I hope that you receive direct news from the ESF Board and its Chair, Vivian, advising you of the way your donation assists with the development of Scouting in Europe.
Last year, thanks to you and our other Friends in the UK, we achieved our largest annual donation to the European Scout Foundation, assisted by the Receptions at the Gilwell Reunion and with the Speaker at the House of Commons.
We now have 26 Life Friends, 37 Annual Friends as well as several group Friends.
Gilwell Reunion 2024
Gilwell Reunion this year is from Friday August 30 to Sunday September 1 2024.
We look forwarded to meeting you again at our exhibition stand in the International Marquee and our Reception on the Saturday afternoon in the Betty Clay Library ,The White House between 13.45 – 14.45.pm.
It gives us an opportunity to promote the Friends of Scouting in Europe – UK and seek support for Scouting across Europe together with saying hello especially to those who have joined us since last year.
Several friends have offered to assist at the Exhibition Stand and you are all welcome to the Reception especially those at Gilwell Reunion with their other Scouting commitments.

The latest Board Meeting was hosted by our friends in Brussels, Belgium and was well attended covering a lot of topics:
- A new website will be developed and launched in time for the FOSE Gathering in October. If you have any ideas on how it should look like and what it should contain, please contact Milos, popovic.pr@gmail.com.
- A new leaflet template for marketing FOSE will be created, and be done in a way that will make it easy to adapt it nationally. Again, if you have any ideas, please contact Milos.
- They discussed our strategic plan, and how well we have delivered on our action points. We were very happy to see that we was doing good, and eager to continue to work with outstanding issues.
- The Payrex solution for direct payments of donations to the Foundation is working well, and is being used. If suitable.
- The invitation for the FOSE tour for 2024 is now distributed more details below.
- They are looking for organisers of the FOSE tours from 2025 and onwards, so if you have any proposals, please let us know. We are considering different options for location of the 2025 gathering and have asked the European Scout Committee for advice.
Next board meeting will be in Dublin, at the Malahide Scout Troop headquarters on November 15th – 17th. A big thank you to Steven for organising this! We hope to be able to welcome many new FOSE at this occasion! Please note that we will invite a number of Country Coordinators to this meeting, and that we will provide more information in due course.
Annual / Life and Reef Knot Donation
FOSE Tour for 2024 - Split, Croatia
With great pleasure we invite you for this year’s FOSE Tour. As every year, many of you will be looking forward for this chance to visit a city that you normally wouldn’t book that easily, to get to know more about its history and culture. To meet old and new international scouting friends again. And of course, last but not least, to talk to local scouts and being informed about their projects which we are asked to (financially) support. Because that is the main reason why we’re friends of scouting in Europe. Isn’t it?
Thursday 3th October 15.00 hours, till Sunday 6th October after lunch
€ 450 per person (Hotel costs are not included but all other costs such as tours, entrances, meals (including most drinks), excursions, etc. are included, except for your dinner on Friday evening. Any financial surplus from the gathering will be used to sponsor a Scout project, with priority given to a project in Croatia.)
